Nocturne
Harlen
A small village, this melting pot of all different shapes and sizes has formed around the Bazaar-Dur. A small number of Duergar return to the surface: perhaps for the trade, perhaps for the curiosity, or perhaps for recon. All party members must have a meaningful tie to Harlen, as this is the hub of the campaign. Explore Harlen!
The Old City
Ruled by the Griffon Society, what remains of the last age lies cobbled together to form the Old City. A great source of arcane learning, the Old City has forgotten and lost as much power as anyone could dream of.
Reaching from Crystal Deep to Bullette Bay and sinking into the Shallow Sea, this mountain range cradles the Old City, as well as provides a natural barrier for the town of Harlen from those things that exist deeper inland on Nocturne.
Rosecross
This town of halflings enjoys an unprecedented period of safety under the Spinae rule. While some in town question the price of said safety, most would agree that no price is too high for peace of mind.
Castle Flux
The former capital of the Elven State, this dark building sometimes looms on the horizon and sometimes simply does not. Rumors say Flux oscillates between this plane and the 9 hells, but recent discoveries point towards all the elves living as Tieflings inside Solari planes.
When a Solari consumes a soul, they become trapped in a demi-plane specific to that Solari. Depending on the power and the age of the Solari, this demi-plane can be huge or tiny, and take on innumerable forms.
Castle Flux Ruins
In place of where Castle Flux once stood sits a fast field of rock, stone, and foundation. The ruins seem to now have new residents, however a mysterious portal can be found some days that purportedly leads to the elves of old.
Merrenoloth River
A mysterious river accessed through a magic portal in the ruins, this river of ooze might hold ancient secrets and mysterious people.
Lake Sallow
One of Nocturnes three great lakes, it once served as a major trading lane for the Elven State. Now, however, few choose to sail across the placid water. A fortunes worth of destroyed vessels now lay on the lake floor, and a bevy of untold terrors keep all but the most resolute hearts away from its murky depths.
Crystal Deep
Contrasting the Shallow Sea, this lake goes down farther than light can reach, and considering how the absolutely pristine water allows more than a mile of visibility down that's saying something.
Yurtrus had taken control of this former Nursery of Luthic. With Yurtrus presumably dead, the fate of the Nursery remains undecided. The Solari seemed quite pleased with the destruction of Yurtrus, which can't be a good thing.
The Wilds
An untamed forest with one foot in this realm and one in the Shadowfell, the Wilds provide a home to elves and other fey creatures.
Bullette Bay
The coast leads out into open waters. At sea there are islands and even continents of other people, an untold number of whom know of this place from the State of Humanity. Travelers frequently arrive, and the seas are ripe with adventure.
The Underveil
Deep below ground, the Duergar build down. Always down. Deep, deep into the earth, none know quite how far down they've traveled. Some of these Duergar choose to return to the surface, disdained by their peers as the lowest of castes. The further down a Duergar lives, the more important, and the more esoteric and advanced their devices are.
Broken Hills, Soft Hills and Three Prayers River
South of Harlen is a measure of open plains, before hitting the Broken Hills. Geology has forced black rock out of the ground and jutting into the air. The chunks of earth vary in size from small cottages to great halls, and their sharp edges provide cover for those in need of hiding. Time has worn them down as they extend further south to become the Soft Hills. Travel far enough through the Soft Hills and you reach the first of the Three Prayers River.
Beyond Nocturne
The Grey Sands
Surrounding the land, a great, colorless desert protects the inhabitants from . . . well, what exactly they protect from is a popular topic many drinks into the night at less reputable pubs and bars. Those that travel even a short way in find their sanity sorely tested, and survivors of the sands find themselves shunned in most polite society.
The Shallow Sea
Beyond the Bay, water extends farther than the eye can see. Unlike most bodies of water, this never descends to be much deeper than a few hundred yards. Many islands and land masses dot the Shallow Sea.
